The Restaurant Theme 3 Update

It’s time to announce another major theme update. The Restaurant Theme is the latest in our collection to be spiced up. Check out the updated demo here. Like the Natural Theme, we have condensed the 3 previous color variations in to one super theme with several color choices available in the new Options Framework. We have updated the food menu page template and custom post type, and given the design a major update. The new Restaurant Theme is more delicious than ever. Check out some of the additional features:

Options Framework

The theme update also integrates with the Options Framework plugin, which offers a much more sleek options interface.

Featured Content Slider

The new featured content slider can display posts with a featured image or a featured video.

Featured Videos

The theme is now capable of displaying featured videos within the slider and on the homepage.

Featured Image Banners

Featured images can now be added to pages and page templates to be displayed as a banner image for that particular page.

Numbered Pagination

The blog and category pagination is now much more accommodating — allowing you to skip ahead to specific page numbers.

Color Options

We have included options for changing the link and highlight colors within the Options Framework — providing a greater array of customization options.

  1. Is there a way to update the theme to this newest version without loosing customizations? Would also appreciate any advice on why the slider nav is out of alignment in certain browsers.

    • The new update is practically an entirely new theme. You can update the site background and logo easily, and change link and highlight colors easily after updating. Any very specific customizations made to the stylesheet will need to be remade.

The slider nav appears to be aligned correctly in all modern browsers. We do not support versions of IE older than IE7, and probably won’t be supporting IE7 for much longer, as those browsers are obsolete.

  2. Hello, I am trying to find out how to add a link to the menu items on the actual menu page layout of the Restaurant Theme? Either the image, or the text. I am making it a recipe page, and wish to have a link on each menu item to the recipe.

I tried to write in the support forum, but there seems to be an issue with it and I cannot get into the forum today. Anyone else able to get in there?

Any thoughts on getting a link into the menu layouts? I know they are all a certain type of script without HTML.

    Thank you!!!

    • Hey Teri,

You will need to create new posts / categories via the ‘Menu’ tab, within your WordPress dashboard. Once you’ve created a post and categories, you can then configure the menu template via Appearance –> Theme Options.

    • Hi, I think I’m trying to do the same thing Terri is trying to do. I want to add food menu items with the thumbnails and descriptions, but have a hyperlink in the description or make the thumbnail a clickable picture that takes you to another site. I’m actually using this page to display items that can be purchased, but you purchase the products at various other sites (amazon and others).

There doesn’t seem to be a button to add a hyperlink so currently we just have the link in plain text in the description. Not a hyperlink.
