how to add a drop shadow to text?

I really like the theme, but I’m finding all of the interesting ways to have issues. 🙂

My home page image, despite my tweaking (blur, less opacity, etc), still makes it hard to read the title with any color text (all of the theme colors, basic black, etc).
But if I try to add a background, it is full width and it indents the text a lot… which ends up covering the key part of the photo.

So my preferred solution would be to add a drop text to the title/subtitle so improve the readability. I’m presuming that I need to add some additional CSS, but I don’t know what the correct code would be or where to add a text-shadow command (if that’s even the right command here).

My alternate solution would be to add a background box — but then I need to know how to make it a specific size with my text in a particular format/location.
